I want to show you how this very small kitchen had a make over.
Now, being fully transparent this isn’t one of my kitchens.
And it’s not in a buy to let investment property.
And it wasn’t organised or designed by a property investor.
But I think it’s good to look at because it shows what can be done in a limited space when you think beyond the norms, and are on a limited budget.
For example, the Belfast sink and counter top cost only £150 on Facebook market place, but (in my opinion) substantially enhance the feel of the space.
As did tiling the floor, and replacing the somewhat dated eye-level cupboard units with shelves.
What I want to do is to address the “shock horror” I get when I tell people I can do a new kitchen for less than £2,000.
And to that end I have another video coming shortly which also addresses this point.
The main reason, I think, why the reaction is invariably “shock horror” is because, in their minds, the listener is not comparing apples with apples, but have jumped to pears.
Remember, the kitchen in a typical cheap and cheerful buy to let property is usually small, and the size of kitchen will always limit the amount you can spend. Ultimately there are a finite number of kitchen units that will fit.
